Dan Knobler is a producer, recording engineer, mixer, and guitarist. He runs Goosehead Palace, a recording studio in Nashville, TN.
Dan has produced and engineered projects for: Lake Street Dive, Erin Rae, Cory Chisel & Adriel Denae, Rodney Crowell, Caroline Spence, Big Thief, Kelsey Waldon, Tift Merritt, The Stray Birds, EMEFE, Shannon McNally, and Faux Ferocious. Records he produced have been reviewed and featured by the New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Boston Globe, and NPR.
As a co-founder of Mason Jar Music in Brooklyn, NY, he worked for several years creating audio/video content for a wide range of clients including: Feist, Chris Thile & Edgar Meyer, The Wood Brothers, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, My Brightest Diamond, Freshgrass Festival @ MASS MoCA, and The Food Network. In 2012, Mason Jar Music was named one of the "Most Innovative Music Companies" by Fast Company, and their work has been featured on NPR's Morning Edition, TIME.com, Paste, Billboard.com, and The Village Voice.
A native New Yorker and a graduate of the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at NYU, Dan has performed or recorded with Andrew Bird, Judy Collins, Rosanne Cash, Becky Warren, The Whiskey Collection, Bennett Jackson & The Ranch Hands and served as the guitarist for the Guy Clark Celebration at The Ryman. He has also worked for the Americana Music Association handling artist & festival relations for AmericanaFest.
He lives with his wife, their son, and two dogs in Nashville, TN.
